Welcoming New Friends From Faraway Places

Once upon a time, America welcomed immigrants. We eagerly recruited foreign students. We were a prime destination for overseas visitors. But lately that welcome mat seems to have disappeared, along with our standing as the Pinnacle of Democracy for the rest of the world.

Join us as we welcome Carina Black, Executive Director of Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC). NNICs main objective is to foster better understanding through their educational and cultural exchange programs and refugee resettlement efforts. The need for these services is now greater than ever, yet NNIC is facing new challenges due to stark anti-immigrant sentiments and federal funding restrictions.

This promises to be an interesting discussion by someone who is at the forefront of this dilemma. You don’t want to miss it.

Please join us at 5:30 PM for social time and refreshments. The meeting portion of our program will begin at 6 PM.
