Welcome to the South Washoe DEMS. We are glad you are here.
We were formed in 2011 as an affiliate group of the Washoe County Democratic Party. We currently meet on the first Monday of the month (see the events calendar). Our mission is to advance the goals of the Democratic Party of Washoe County within the community in the southern areas of Washoe County including:
- Bringing together fellow Democrats in regular monthly meetings.
- Providing a forum for Democrats to share concerns and issues.
- Inviting speakers to present on local, state, and national concerns.
- Engaging and mobilizing people on an ongoing basis to actively support Democratic candidates and issues of community concern.
- Build a long-term community of like- minded Democrats that will have a positive influence on the outcome of local, state, and national elections.
We encourage everyone who feels connected to the south county to get involved. There is no membership application and there are no dues to belong. We hope you will explore our website and join us at our next monthly meeting.

Emeritus Advisory Council
In January 2013, the Steering Committee created the South Washoe DEMS Emeritus Advisory Council. This council is for those stepping down from an active role in our organization and is a way to honor our most trusted, experienced, and loved activists. Those on this board will serve in the capacity of advising, supporting, and counseling the steering committee.
