R You Ready?

Meet Your Candidates: Ramsey, Richards, Rosenstein

Let’s kick off the upcoming General Election with a Rousing Round-Robin of local candidates. They are eager to tell us what they hope to bring to the offices they seek. Listen, learn and help these fellow Democrats launch their campaigns.

Jennifer Richards is running to fill an open seat on Reno Justice Court. She is a lifelong Nevadan and has spent over a decade in public service, working to improve access to justice for the most vulnerable in our community. Her pro bono efforts and extensive community involvement have garnered local and national recognition. Additionally, she has worked as a public defender, a legal aid lawyer and served as the Chief Rights Attorney for the State of Nevada, which included authoring key legislation.

Katherine Ramsey is our State Assembly Candidate for District 40. While this is the first time she has run for office, her non-traditional work background as the owner of her own trucking company and her work as a project manager for FEMA, has yielded a wealth of skills including over 30 years’ experience in management, grant compliance, finance and budgeting. She hopes to be the voice for those in our community who are under-represented or not heard at all.

Perry Rosenstein is running for Washoe County School Board, District G, having placed first in the June primary. As the father of two preschool-age boys (with a girl on the way!), he is deeply personally invested in the quality of our schools. Perry founded two successful technology companies before serving as a substitute teacher in the district and tutoring at-risk foster youth. With his unique blend of technology acumen, business expertise, and classroom insight, Perry will bring a fresh and valuable perspective to the board.

Special Bonus: Reaching Out

Our August program will feature an introduction to a low-key but highly-effective way to GOTV (Get Out the Vote). We are excited to welcome Laynette Evans, Co-founder and member of the Leadership Team for Indivisible Northern Nevada, to share the concept and specifics behind a powerful GOTV program they have launched called Neighbor2Neighbor.

Winning this election is paramount to saving our democracy and our country. It will require each and every one of us to do our part. Neighbor2Neighbor might be the perfect way for you to jump in and make a difference while building relationships in your own backyard. Come learn all about it!

Pease join us at 5:30 PM on August 5th for social time and refreshments. The meeting portion of our program will begin at 6 PM.
